Called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1991 and admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales in 2008, Clara built a substantial legal, regulatory and compliance career across Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She spent approximately thirteen years as Corporate Legal Counsel with a leading Nigerian banking institution and subsequently worked for more than a decade in investment management in the UK in legal and compliance roles. Her expertise across law, governance, compliance and risk continues to inform the strategic perspective she brings to her wider leadership and business interests.
Alongside her corporate career, Clara developed an extensive body of work around leadership, personal development, storytelling and purposeful self-expression. Through The SHINE Zone, she created a range of initiatives including SHINE Magazine, the SHINE Capsules Podcast, SHINE Mentoring Hub, SHINE Happy Hour, the SHINE Legacy Awards and the Leap and SHINE Conference, using publishing, audio, live events and digital communities to educate, connect and create platforms for other voices.
She is the author of Prison Break: The 9–5 Escape Agenda – Taking the Leap from Limitation to Liberation and 40 Pearls of Wisdom, and a contributing author to The Journey to Purpose. Her SHINE philosophy - Soar Higher Into New Expressions - reflects a longstanding belief in helping people recognise their potential, find their voice and translate knowledge into meaningful action. Alongside her media and leadership work, Clara is a Financial Resilience Educator, applying her financial-services and risk background to financial education and resilience.
Her work has received international recognition, including the Iconic Woman Award at the Women Economic Forum, honors from Powerhouse Global, and her 2020 induction into the World Book of Greatness as a 'Creator of Greatness'. Her earlier corporate achievements also include a CEO’s Award for Excellence during her banking career.
